Day 23 Kuma’s FIP Journey

0600 Keppra

I stayed in bed for awhile

Awoke to a playful kitteh

Skin surveillance:  no s/sx of sores

Good food intake, plenty of dry kibble, not much wet

Much Paw of Discipline today

It’s going to be very hot today, must keep all kittehs safe and well-hydrated.

Went to DF, holy SHIT it was hotter than hell out there, over 100!!!!

Came home, not much better, high-80s with no AirCon.

Babies, ok, but mostly melting.

1430 Keppra

Gave Kuma a bath, but he stank and was terribly dirty.

Had a bit of a shivering event, had to swaddle him, and use the hair drier on him, took about 1.5 hours of recovery time.

1820 he’s back to his rambunctious self.

We still can’t eat, too damn hot.

1900 Neurontin

Kuma slept for a bit

2100 Capella administration

W: 4.06lbs

T: 101.9F

Dose: 1.2mL

Location:  R mid flank

Pre-injection skin prep:  same

Tent:  Excellent

Injection:  bevel down, good injection, smooth, some yowling

Needle withdrawal:  good, no evidence of leakage.

BUT:  leakage within 30s.  I think the hole should be at the top of the tent, not the bottom, my mistake

Post-injection site cleaning with leak:  soapy towel, fresh water towel x 3x, pat dry, monitor.

Pinch injection site

CHURU!!!!

I will check again in 10m.

Will run laser on 5m inflammation.

Had to clean skin again, and will do it once more with Keppra at 2200’’

This is the largest leak we’ve had.  I know what I have to do next time to prevent this.

I must inject “downwards” so the medicine runs down to gravity.

I injected from the bottom of the tent, and the med ran out of the hole.

I have to inject from the top of the tent so gravity will carry the med down but not out of the hole.

2200 Keppra, last cleaning, the leak has almost stopped, skin is as clean as I can get it
