Day 82 Kuma’s FIP Journey

I went to the gym to work out

0600 Keppra

Came home, Kuma chasing everyone.

Chilled out a bit, then shower, and off to work!

Isao’s birthday , we have a cake and a herd showing up to the DF tonight!!!

Matt is handling the cake, Bill will join us, ubering up with Isao.

1400 Keppra

I got back Kuma’s results, they are great and stable since the last draws in October, Dr. Lair is very pleased!!

We do have one oversight, however.

Since seizures were the symptom that brought us to the FIP diagnosis, and Kuma has been on Keppra this entire time, we have not been tapering him off while treating him with Capella.

So, we need to continue Capella injections while we taper off the Keppra to rule in FIP as the cause of the seizures.

If the virus is gone, he shouldn’t seize once off the medication.

So, we’ll continue the Capella injections while he is tapered off of the Keppra.

Dr. Lair and I discussed his taper schedule.

Keppra BID x 1 week, then QD x 1 week, then off completely.

Nancy (admin) stated that symptoms of relapse show up long before changes in blood work.

I will confirm the tapering schedule with Dr. Lair and present it to our admins.

There was a change in Kuma’s kidney labs, but Dr. Lair isn’t worried at this time, however, we will get more labs in 4-6 weeks just to be sure.

Isao is worried, but I am reserved at this point.  We will see how he is in 4-6 weeks.
